This is Part 1 of my weight loss journey, and although my transformation is still ongoing, the changes I have experienced so far have already transformed my life. In this blog, I want to share my real experience of losing weight in a healthy, sustainable way — without starving, without extreme dieting, and without compromising on taste.
As a working mother, homemaker, and team leader at the office, my life has always been busy. I constantly juggle responsibilities at home, care for my daughter, and manage my professional commitments. Over time, I began feeling low on energy, irritated, and emotionally drained. I was frequently angry — at others and at myself.
I had no positive feelings about my life. My overweight condition had reduced my confidence and slowly started affecting both my physical and mental health.
Health Issues I Faced Due to Overweight
As my weight increased, several health problems started appearing.
1. Plantar Fasciitis (Flat Feet) and Severe Heel Pain

I developed plantar fasciitis (flat feet issue), which worsened because of my excess weight. Every morning, I could not step on the floor immediately after waking up. I experienced stabbing pain in my heels.
Before getting out of bed, I had to stretch my feet just to be able to walk. Daily walking became difficult because the heel pain was unbearable. If I stood for more than two hours, the pain would intensify, and I would struggle to walk. If I sat down once, I couldn’t suddenly get up and walk comfortably.
2. Head Heaviness and Neck Strain

I often experienced head heaviness and pressure throughout the day. This could have been due to a sensitive scalp and long hours of working on a laptop, which caused neck strain.
Although I learned to live with it, my excess weight made everything worse.
3. Low Energy and Mental Exhaustion

I constantly felt tired. Even basic household chores felt like a burden. Slowly, other health issues began appearing as well.
That was when I realized — the root cause of most of my problems was my overweight condition.
The Turning Point in My Weight Loss Journey – Part 1
One day, I felt a strong determination from within. I did not want to live an unhealthy life anymore. I wanted to change — not temporarily, but permanently.
In Part 1 of my weight loss journey, I decided:
Not to lose weight by drastically reducing food.
Not to depend on intermittent fasting alone.
Not to compromise on taste or satisfaction.
To focus on healthy and sustainable weight loss.
Small Food Changes That Made a Huge Difference
As a South Indian, I always believed I couldn’t live without rice. But rice was making me feel bloated, sluggish, and heavy — even though I felt full.
So I made a bold decision.
I completely gave up rice.
Instead of white rice, I replaced it with whole wheat chapati made without oil, which helped me feel lighter and more energetic. This simple swap made a significant difference in my weight loss journey.
I shifted my meals to include:
Whole wheat chapati (no oil) + protein
Vegetables with protein
High-protein vegetarian meals
Avoiding carbohydrates as much as possible
The most important part?
My food was never tasteless. I made sure every meal was satisfying, nutritious, and delicious while still supporting my healthy and sustainable weight loss goals.
High-Protein Vegetarian Foods I Included

Being a vegetarian, I carefully chose protein-rich foods to fuel my body:
Soya chunks
Mixed sprouts
Rajma
Paneer
Tofu
Plain moong dal
When I prepared a vegetables-only meal for lunch, I made sure it was both nutritious and satisfying. I lightly half-boiled the vegetables and then sautéed them gently with pepper and salt to retain their natural flavor and nutrients. To increase the protein content and make the meal more filling, I added:
Tofu
Mushrooms
Broccoli
Peas
Carrots
Cauliflower
This simple, high-protein vegetarian lunch option kept me energized, satisfied, and aligned with my healthy weight loss goals.
This became my most satisfying lunch at home. I felt genuine happiness and satisfaction after eating such healthy meals.
Listening to My Body Daily
Every day is different. I understood that my body’s needs change daily.
With the help of ChatGPT, I started understanding my body better. I adjusted my daily menu according to how I felt — while always keeping protein intake high and avoiding carbohydrates.
This flexibility helped me stay consistent and avoid feeling restricted.
Adding Walking to My Routine
Along with diet changes, I made sure to:
Walk 40 minutes (around 3 km)
Five days a week
This simple habit added great value to my weight loss journey.
My Results So Far: 6 Kgs Weight Loss

As days passed, I gradually started losing excess weight. So far, I have lost 6 kilograms.
But the transformation was not just about the number on the weighing scale.
Eating clean, high-protein vegetarian meals and avoiding rice significantly improved my overall health. One beautiful and unexpected benefit was that my skin glow improved naturally. My face started looking fresher, clearer, and more radiant — without any special skincare routine. Healthy eating truly reflected on my skin.
Most importantly, I now feel more confident in my body. The heaviness I used to feel — both physically and mentally — has reduced. I feel lighter, more energetic, and more positive about myself. My confidence has slowly started coming back, and that is one of the biggest achievements of this weight loss journey – Part 1.
Now I have reached a stage where the weight loss process has slowed down. My body has become slightly stagnant. At this point, consistency and patience are very important.
I am continuing this journey — not just to lose weight, but to stay healthy, energetic, confident, and strong for life.
What’s Next in My Weight Loss Journey?
This blog marks Part 1 of my weight loss journey and transformation.
I have set a target weight for myself, and I am determined to reach it. Once I achieve my goal, I will share Part 2 of my weight loss journey, where I will talk about the next phase, deeper transformation, and long-term lifestyle changes.
Final Thoughts
My weight loss journey – Part 1 taught me one important lesson:
Healthy weight loss is not about starving.
It is about smart food choices, consistency, and listening to your body.
If you are struggling with overweight, low energy, low confidence, or health issues — start with small changes. Those small steps can create massive transformation.
This journey is still ongoing. And I am proud of every step I have taken toward becoming a healthier version of myself.
